Fluorescently labeled methacrylated gelatin (green fluorescent GelMA) is a type of functionalized photo-crosslinkable hydrogel material derived from conventional methacrylated gelatin (GelMA) by covalently conjugating green fluorescent molecules (such as fluorescein isothiocyanate FITC, rhodamine B derivatives, or silicon rhodamine). It belongs to a biocompatible fluorescent nanocomposite system.Its core structure retains the basic characteristics of GelMA—gelatin backbone (denatured collagen rich in cell adhesion sequence RGD) is modified with methacrylic anhydride to introduce methacryloyl groups (-CH₂=C(CH₃)CO-), endowing the material with in situ crosslinking capability under UV/visible light; at the same time, green fluorescent groups are stably loaded onto the gelatin molecular chains through chemical grafting or physical adsorption (usually mainly via covalent coupling), enabling the material to possess fluorescence imaging ability in the near-infrared to visible light range (typically with an emission peak around 500–530 nm) while maintaining its original biological functions.
