Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are an important type of nanomaterial with a unique structure and excellent properties. They are hollow small tubes composed of multiple coaxial cylindrical graphite layers, with the spacing between adjacent cylinders being comparable to the interlayer spacing of graphite. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes can be considered as being formed by coaxially nesting multiple single-walled carbon nanotubes of different diameters. The number of layers ranges from 2 to 50, with a consistent spacing between each layer, creating a multilayer structure similar to a cable. At present, the main methods for preparing multi-walled carbon nanotubes include arc discharge, laser ablation, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and flame synthesis. Among these, chemical vapor deposition is widely used due to its simple equipment and high product purity.
