The nanoporous carbon electrode increases the strength of the membrane to meet the strength requirement of the electrode material while maximally maintaining the three-dimensional through-order nanopore of the nanoporous carbon membrane.
1. The main structure maintains a three-dimensionally-ordered ordered nanopore structure, which adds more micropores and presents interconnected hierarchical pore structures. The three-dimensional through-holes facilitate the penetration of electrolytes and the rapid transport of ions. The micropores can provide a larger specific surface area. The combination of the two can shorten the diffusion path of ions and increase the transmission speed of electrons.

Second, the front and back sides of the film have different characteristics. The nanopore is exposed on the front side, and the reverse side is covered with a carbon film composed of micropores. This microporous carbon film can be used as a separator when necessary. For example, when used as a cathode material for a lithium-sulfur battery, the reverse side faces the electrolyte, and the carbon film on the reverse side can prevent the shuttle effect of the polysulfide.
Third, the nanoporous electrode is a self-supporting integral electrode, which does not contain a conductive agent, a binder and a current collector, and is beneficial to increase the energy density of the whole battery.
