The two-dimensional MXene is the precursor, which constructs an ordered nanosheet structure and modifies a uniform carbon layer at the same time to prepare a TiO2 photocatalyst with high visible light activity. Under visible light conditions, the photocatalytic activity of the titanium dioxide nanosheet/C composite is three times higher than that of titanium dioxide. The results show that the high photocatalytic activity can be attributed to three reasons. One is the ordered nanosheet structure inherited from the two-dimensional MXene, which is conducive to the separation and transportation of electrons. Secondly, the modification of the carbon layer will obviously expand more visible light absorption area. In addition, the carbon layer also promotes the separation and migration of photo-generated carriers. The proposed in-situ carbon modification strategy improves the visible light photocatalytic activity and develops the photocatalytic mechanism.
