Zirconium diboride (ZrB2) has high melting point, high modulus, high hardness, high thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity, and good thermal shock resistance due to its strong chemical bond characteristics. It has become the most potential UHT ceramic Candidate materials. ZrB2 ceramic products have been widely used as various high-temperature structural and functional materials, such as:Turbine blades and magnetic fluid power generation electrodes in the aviation industry. In addition, compared with many ceramic materials, it has better electrical conductivity and can be used to produce parts with complex shapes through wire cutting technology. However, ZrB2 material has a high melting point and is difficult to sinter, and its strength and toughness are relatively low, which limits its application in harsh operating environments. For this reason, domestic and foreign scholars have used various advanced sintering processes to carry out a lot of research work on ZrB2 composites with other components to improve the comprehensive properties of the materials. The author mainly reviewed the research work of ZrB2 composite system and densification.
2 Refractory materials
ZrB2 ceramics are excellent special refractory materials, which can be used as high-temperature thermocouple protection sleeves, molds, metallurgical metal crucibles, etc. When used as thermocouple protection sleeves, they are not very airtight and conductive. Therefore, it must be matched with the alumina inner sleeve to carry out effective temperature measurement. 3 electrode material
ZrB2 is suitable for contact materials and electrode materials due to its low electrical resistivity and its conductive mechanism is electronic conduction. It can be used in metal thermocouple electrodes and high temperature heating elements. In 1994, Feng Dagan developed a sleeve-type thermocouple material paired with ZrB2 and graphite. Experiments have shown that it can work in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1200^1600°C. The thermoelectric potential is relatively high.
It can reach about 70 mV at 1600 °C, and the thermoelectric potential rate is relatively high, about 55μV/°C. The thermoelectric potential changes with the temperature as a single value function, with good linearity. After multiple tests in an oxidizing atmosphere, its repeatability is 1%~1.5% of the measured temperature. The maximum change is the measured temperature for a short period of more than 3 hours.
