General description
The zinc imidazolate framework (ZIF) has a zeolite imidazole ester framework (ZIF) composed of metal ions and imidazole salt anions. The structure of ZIF is similar to that of silica-zeolite. ZIF has high thermal stability.
application
For separation processes (paraffin isomers, alkanes), sensors and gas adsorption (hydrogen)
MOF based on ZIF-8 can be used to make matrix membranes for gas separation processes, such as hydrogen separation and nitrogen recovery. They are also used as fillers to form PDMS base membranes to achieve solvent-resistant nanofiltration (SRNF). Commercially, they are used as porous materials for absorbing and sensing pesticides.
