A research idea a day|Piezoelectric interface for harmonizing bone infection repair
QQ Academic Group: 1092348845
Detailed
This study developed a PLLA-ZnO microenvironment-responsive piezoelectric interface, exposing aligned ZnO nanowires on the surface of electrospun PLLA fibers, combining enhanced piezoelectric response, nano-morphology, and acid-responsive Zn²⁺ release. This interface is designed to coordinate antibacterial action, immune regulation, and bone formation, addressing the conflict between infection control and bone regeneration in implant-related bone infections. In vitro, it shows broad-spectrum antibacterial effects, promotes pro-healing polarization of macrophages, and supports mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis; in a rat model, it inhibits bacterial colonization, reduces inflammation, promotes bone regeneration and integration, and is biocompatible.
