Two-dimensional materials with intrinsic magnetism have received extensive attention due to their potential applications in low-power electronics and spintronics. So far, only a few intrinsically magnetic two-dimensional materials have been reported. Here, we report the intrinsic ferromagnetic behavior of two-dimensional V2C MXene nanosheets through layer mismatch engineering. At room temperature, the V2C MXene nanosheets twisted at a small angle have a stable intrinsic ferromagnetic response, and the saturation magnetic moment is 0.013 emu/g. Through X-ray absorption spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and photoelectron spectroscopy analysis, it has been studied in depth. The results show that the interlayer symmetrical fracture torsion reduces the degeneracy of the v3d state and the van Hove singularity. This leads to a redistribution of the electron density of states near the Fermi level, and thus activates Stonener ferromagnetism and an improved flowing electron density d. This work highlights the potential application prospects of V2C MXene as an intrinsic room temperature ferromagnetic material in spintronics or spin-based electronics.
