What types of MXenes are there?

Type of MXenes

So far, more than 20 different MXenes have been experimentally synthesized and characterized. The following figure summarizes the various electronic properties of MXenes. The MXenes series can be classified by their crystal structure (single metal type, bimetal type, and gap sort type). In addition, the types of transition metal elements and surface functional groups are directly related to the electronic properties of MXenes. While most MXenes are metallic, some semiconductor MXenes are prepared using an oxygen terminated and ordered structure M2CTx formulation.
