The synthesis of new decanoic silver mainly follows two technical routes: one is the classic method using silver oxide and new decanoic acid as raw materials, and the other is the ion double decomposition method using silver nitrate and sodium new decanoate as raw materials.
The following points require special attention:
Avoiding light operation: New decanoic silver is prone to decomposition upon exposure to light. The entire process of synthesis and storage should be carried out in a dark environment.
The key role of hydrogen peroxide: In the silver oxide method, adding hydrogen peroxide is an important step, which is used to remove trace amounts of elemental silver that may be produced during the oxidation reaction. Otherwise, the product color will become grayish and impure.
Temperature control: In the silver oxide method, the temperature should be maintained at around 80°C. If the temperature is too low, the reaction will not be complete, and if it is too high, the silver compound may decompose.
Washing and purification: The product needs to be thoroughly washed with anhydrous ethanol to remove excess new decanoic acid or inorganic salt impurities.
Equipment selection: If the double decomposition method is used, ordinary stirring may cause product agglomeration due to uneven mixing. The micro-jet reactor is a key equipment for achieving uniform mixing and improving yield.
